Having been around the world of beauty, the American agency Cut chose Italy for the last episode of a funny series of videos titled "100 Years of Beauty".
The goal is to capture in a short video the evolution of styles and trends that have characterized the different decade of female beauty, from 1910 till today, in different countries of the world. Hairstyles, makeup, and accessories changed at a crazy speed, so the models in this video series are carried into an imaginary time travel, wearing the clothes of the female icons of past and present generations.
After the United States, Russia, India, and other nations, the homage to the Italian beauty was a must. Yes, because Italy is the country where the idea of female charm has been always combined with style, continuously influencing the world of cinema, fashion, and art. Just think of the magnificent '60s, where women like Sophia Loren or Silvana Mangano charmed Hollywood with their typical Mediterranean curves. But not only, the Italian beauty in the world has also seen model and actress Monica Bellucci leading the 80s and 90s decades, years where top international models like Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer seemed to affirm a new concept of beauty, more statuesque than the Italian sensuality.
But how did Italian beauty evolve? If you pay attention to the video, you will find that style of almost every decade has been in some way influenced by the great names of Italian fashion. In the '70s, bright colors for makeup were used, such as orange lipstick and green eye shadow. In fact, during those years, fashion designer Missoni strongly believed that color would have changed post-war Europe. Versace has represented Italian style in the '80s, which resulted being a luxurious decade for look and fashion. Today's Italian woman style recalls instead the '50s, just as the creations of Dolce & Gabbana.
